Saturdays @ the Museum presents Urraca Man and Forensic Anthropology
Time & Location
About the Event
His skeletal remains were found in 1970 on Urraca Mesa near the Philmont Ranch. His possessions indicate he likely died there between 1860 and 1880. But who was he? How did he die? What story lay concealed with his remains, and what can scientific analysis tell us about his life and times?
11 am Saturday at the Rough Rider Museum, NMHU Archeologist Victoria Evans will speak about how the identity of the Urraca Man and the cause of his demise was eventually discovered in 2013 by then-NMHU student Aaron Roth, using cutting edge forensic technique and high-tech equipment.
