Emergency financial assistance is available for people who are unable to pay their basic living expenses (food/housing/health care) at present. We ask that if you have the resources to cover these expenses, please wait to apply. These are unprecedented times and we all must steward our resources very carefully.

Eligibility Requirements for SAG-AFTRA members

Please note: Suspended Payment, Terminated, and Fee-Paying-Non-Member (Ficore) are NOT ELIGIBLE to receive assistance from the SAG-AFTRA Foundation.

  1. Copy of your current membership card or confirmation by SAG-AFTRA membership department – including end date. Your membership must be current through October 2019 to be eligible.

  2. Most recent bank statement (not printout from ATM)

  3. Current lease or mortgage/maintenance statement

Tips on Making Your Application Process Easier

 

You should prepare your documents prior to filling out the online application. You will be required to upload your documents at the end of the online application.

If your documents are not already available electronically, here are some suggested steps to create an electronic file for your paper documents.

  1. Search your app store for Evernote Scannable. This is a free app. There are numerous apps that are available to create electronic files for your paper documents; please use what works for you.

  2. Download Evernote Scannable to your phone.

  3. When you are ready, open the app and scan documents.

  4. This will create a PDF of your files.

  5. You will need to create one PDF file for each of these categories:

    1.  file for union card(s) or proof of membership status, if applicable

    2.  file for last month’s bank statement

    3. file for current lease, rent statement, mortgage/maintenance. (If unavailable, can be substituted with utility/phone bill listing your current address)

Things to know:

* 6ft Social Distancing is required

* Large crowds are prohibited

* Face coverings are REQUIRED

* Wash your hands

   What is open?   

  • Non-essential retailers operate via curbside pickup and delivery service only where permitted by their license.

  • State parks are on a day use only, no camping or visitor centers. 

  • Golf courses, allowed to open for golf only.

  • Pet humane adoption/groomers/daycare/boarding are operating

   What is Closed?   

  • Instruction to STAY HOME remain in place for all individuals.

  • Non-essential retailers and workplaces

  • Bars remain temporarily closed

  • Indoor malls, gyms, salons, theaters and casinos

  • Mass Gatherings are restricted as per the current PHO

  • 14-day quarantine remains in place for out-of-state airport travels. 

  • Vacation rentals prohibited to out-of-state residents

   What will change heading into Phase I   

Drive-in Theaters permitted to open

Restaurants may operate indoor dine-in service at 50% of maximum occupancy in accordance with COVID-Safe Practices

Gyms and Hotels may operate at 50% of maximum occupancy

Indoor mall may open at 25% of maximum occupancy

Hair salons, barbershops, tattoo parlors, massage services and mail salons may operate at 25% of maximum occupancy

  • Accept clients on an appointment only basis

  • Personal training permitted for up to 2 trainees

  • Pools may be used for lap swimming and lessons of up to two students and must adhere to CDC guidelines

  • Bar and Counter seating prohibited; no standing service

  • Six feet of distance between tables of seated customers

  • Loitering prohibited; food courts must remain closed

  • Discontinued service stations that require customers to congregate

  • Stringent and regular sanitizing; training's for employees on cleaning processes

  • 14-day quarantine order for airport arrivals amended to permit certain business travel under COVID-Safe Practices

  • Face Coverings are REQUIRED.

  • 6ft Social Distancing REQUIRED.

HOW TO APPLY FOR EMERGENCY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

 

To help our community during this public health crisis, The Actors Fund has partnered with other entertainment industry organizations to provide emergency financial assistance to those in immediate financial need. Funds are available to union and non-union workers in entertainment and the performing arts. Remember, you may be eligible for more than one fund. 

Please know that we are experiencing an extremely high volume of requests and ask for your patience during this time. It is taking approximately two weeks to process an application.

THREE STEPS TO APPLY

 

1. CONFIRM YOUR FINANCIAL NEED

Emergency financial assistance is available for people who are unable to pay basic living expenses (food/housing/health care) for the next two months. If you have the resources to pay your essential bills during that period, please wait to apply. You will be asked to submit your most recent checking and savings statements.

2. REVIEW YOUR ELIGIBILITY

Check the requirements below for all unions, guilds or employers that apply to you. Union and non-union workers may apply directly to The Actors Fund. Please note this is a one-time grant only. Exception: thanks to funding from IATSE International, IATSE members may apply for a second grant 45 days after the first grant is received. Please go to the "IATSE, All Locals" section to access the Second Grant application.

3. PREPARE YOUR DOCUMENTATION

Before starting to fill out the online application, please collect and digitize all required documentation. Applications without proper documentation will not be processed and you will not be notified. Please note this is a one-time grant only.
