Located about 45 minutes from Las Vegas, Villanueva State Park is one of the best camping and hiking areas in the state. Nestled between high sandstone bluffs that form a canyon along the Pecos River, the park is a haven for campers, hikers, and folks just wanting to get away from it all. Camp or picnic under the shade of large cottonwood trees, or enjoy a day of fishing, bird watching or wildflower hunting. Several trails welcome hikers of all levels, and the scenic overlook has spectacular views. There’s also a bathhouse, information center, modern restrooms, showers and a dump station.

Location: roughly 30 miles south of Las Vegas near the picturesque Spanish-colonial village of Villanueva. The park’s entrance is off of Dodge Drive.
